Dr. Silvia Birklein SYNC Psychological Services PLLC

Silvia Birklein, PhD, MA, LCAT, CMA is a seasoned clinical psychologist, psychoanalyst, dance movement therapist, and movement analyst. As the Founder and Clinical Director of SYNC Psychological Services, PLLC, and SYNC SOMATICS ™l Services, PLLC, (Embodied Psychotherapy and Supervision), a training facility for clinicians, she brings more than three decades of experience to her work.

She has worked in diverse roles in several in- and outpatient hospitals, clinics, counseling centers, private practices, and Reality TV shows. Dr. Birklein holds roles as faculty (clinical consultant) at the NYU Postdoctoral Program for Psychoanalysis (Relational Track), and Supervisor and Faculty at Pace University, The New School University, and the Institute for Contemporary Psychotherapy (ICP). Her research focus is the inter-generational transmission of affect, the body, and movement in psychotherapy and psychoanalysis, particularly on trauma, PTSD, and the nonverbal/non–semantic aspects in the clinical setting.

Dr. Birklein specializes in Relational Psychoanalysis and Body and Movement/Somatic Practices in psychoanalytic contexts and offers psychodynamic, relational psychotherapy, and psychoanalysis as well as body/movement–informed psychotherapy.
