Katie Down -- Community Sound + Music on the Green

ExplO+re Class: Community Sound + Music on the Green

Music therapist and multi-instrumentalist, Katie Down will be joined by SUNY New Paltz graduate music therapy students and esteemed colleagues in sound and music, Ben Brown, Mary Myers, and Craig Chin for 3 separate musical offerings at Academy Green Park from 3:30 – 6:30. The offerings will start with a community drum circle from 3:30 – 4:30. Please bring a drum or anything to make a sound. At 4:30, we will transition into a sing-along/strum-along for anyone who wants to sing together. Songbooks will be available through a PDF via QR code that people can access on their phones. Bring a guitar, ukulele, banjo, zither, anything you can strum! And last but certainly not least, we will have a sound meditation with gongs, bowls, and deep drone resonant instruments for a restorative deep listening experience. Bring a blanket and drop into sound.
