Jeet Kune Do or The Way of the Intercepting Fist is a martial art founded by the great martial artist, philosopher and actor, Bruce Lee. Sometimes referred to as “Scientific Street Fighting”, Jeet Kune Do uses the principles of bio-mechanics to develop the practitioner into a skilled martial artist for self-defense with simple, effective and highly refined combat skills. Learning and understanding the “roots” or fundamentals of human movement for the martial arts is the foundation for the skilled martial artist. Jeet Kune Do practitioners develop their physical tools to kick, punch, trap and ground fight in all three ranges of distance; long, medium and close, at high proficiency. Unlike most martial arts schools, Nirvana JKD Society does not train members for combat sport competition but for real life situations so that they can protect themselves and loved ones. As a Nirvana JKD Society member you can expect to learn the following; Verbal and non-verbal de-escalation skills for violence prevention, Jeet Kune Do philosophy, mindful awareness, punching, kicking, Trapping Hands, Ground-fighting, Simultaneous defense and attack (counter-attacking), principles of bio-mechanics to develop explosive speed and power, body conditioning for martial arts, strength and mobility, weapons training and defense and much more! Have a chat with head instructor Jesse Ohliger to learn more about what Nirvana Jeet Kune Do Society has to offer you

From having a computer graphics business to becoming a nurse was an evolution. Starting in a hospital, moving to running a dementia unit, becoming a Hospice nurse, then on to staff education, and now working with the mostly homebound, I have been blessed to share all different stages of people’s journey. Learning leads to change. I hope to continue to evolve.

Dr. Gena Wilson is an Integrative Functional Medicine physician, a board-certified Family Practice M.D. and a 15 year multidisciplinary practitioner of both conventional and holistic medicine. She is deeply committed to awakening her patients innate ability to heal, and focuses much of her work on helping individuals recognize and grow this capacity within themselves.
After almost a decade of providing care in the Hudson Valley, she has developed an extensive network of trusted health practitioners with whom she consults and collaborates to provide a full spectrum of care for adults, adolescents and children dealing with general diet and lifestyle imbalances, insulin resistance, metabolic syndrome, tick-born illnesses, chronic fatigue syndrome, thyroid dysfunction, food allergies, irritable bowel syndrome and fibromyalgia among many other wellness challenges.
Throughout her years of medical practice, Dr. Wilson has sought to deepen her understanding of sustainable wellness and how health imbalances arise and resolve. This ongoing exploration lead to her further medical studies through completion of a Preventive Medicine Residency Fellowship at The University at Albany, where she concurrently earned a Masters in Public Health. She went on to more deeply explore our body/behavioral/environmental interconnectedness through her training in Functional Medicine — an *integrated health systems* framework for wellness focused on understanding the root elements of illness and the pathways to recovery through advanced laboratory diagnostics, genetic testing, detoxification programs, stress-management techniques, therapeutic diets, lifestyle/exercise coaching and carefully considered medicines, herbs and supplements.
Dr. Wilson strives to *listen* deeply to the body and sees the physician as an interpreter and resource guide in the mission of translating histories of illness and imbalance into patient empowering maps of recovery and well-being. This loving commitment to unhurried patient centered care provides the time and close attention that keenly supports the roots of deep and lasting health.

Samuel Claiborne has been doing shamanic and healing work since childhood, using several modalities he was born with. In addition, he has been studying and using Ortho-Bionomy, a descendant of Osteopathy founded by Dr. Arthur Lincoln Pauls, in his practice since 2009. He defines Ortho-Bionomy as: “Physical and energetic modeling to the body of its own misalignments and constrictions so that it may self-correct.” He defines his practice as “Co-Creative, Intuitive, Gentle, Respectful, Spiritual yet grounded in neuro-physiology, suitable for everything from a broken soul to a broken heart to a broken arm.”
Informed by Lakota, ayurvedic, reiki, and her own insights, Tevis Trower’s work helps clients ground and clear so that they may establish the energetic state that will most serve their needs in the moment. She uses breath, tribal drumming, kinesthetic awarenes, crystals, and meditation/awareness practices.

My specialty is integrating osteopathic manual techniques with posture and movement training and individually tailored exercise programs to help my patients recover from injuries and surgeries, minimize pain, and maximize their physical potential.
I have done extensive study in Fascial Counterstrain, an evolving field of manual therapy. When I moved to the area after earning a Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Temple University, my goal was to work with the best manual therapists in the Hudson Valley. As a licensed naturopathic physician, acupuncture specialist and wellness educator, I offer all-natural solutions to restore optimal health and reclaim a life of energy, balance, and joy. Formerly working as a pharmacist, I realized the limitations of conventional medicine to address the root cause of a health concern. These days, I consider myself a “health detective,” and I listen to the clues the body can tell us and work to get to the root of an issue rather than silence the symptoms. The foundation of my care plans utilize “Food as Medicine” along with botanical and nutrient therapies, mind-body techniques, lifestyle modifications, acupuncture and more.
