Spliffs began as an electronic project between Jon McCarthy and Brooke Jazylo (aka Galaexius Quasar) under the title The Out of Body Project, where they experimented with a variety of local musicians and styles mostly based around the combination of Korg Electribe Rhythms, Guitar loops and triggered samples.
Troy Newton was introduced through Matthew O’Neill’s band where Brooke occasionally sang back-up vocals and Jon contributed with synth during his live performances. Shortly after sharing the stage together, Spliffs developed as a way to interpret the previously electronic-based songs that Jon and Brooke had been working on with the live drumming of Troy Newton.
Spliffs recorded their first collection of songs under a Self Titled EP at Nardus Studios where Scott White contributed bass tracks and engineering/mixing. Shortly after the release of their ep they have begun recording their first full length album.
