While recording “The New Stumptown Rounders” in Sebastopol, CA he met Ed Neff, fiddle player for The Vern Williams Band, High Country and mandolin player for his own band ‘Blue And Lonesome’.  Neff soon became Riley’s mentor in bluegrass music and highly influenced his playing and singing.

While developing his own guitar style and singing, Hill met banjo player Isaac Cantor in 2011 and started the band ‘The Cherry Pickers’.  After some successful touring around Northern CA and Oregon and well received festival performances (Northwest String Summit 2014 and Grass Valley CBA Fathers Day Festival) Riley decided to put together some seasoned bluegrass vets and release his own album.
