RMA

RMA is a music collective currently comprising Bob Ross on bass/electronics, Alexy Artemov on percussion/guitar/electronics, and Tim Mukherjee on guitar/electronics. RMA is based in New York City. More information at rmatrio.com. Bob Ross was a founding member of Debris, for which he will most assuredly rot in hell. He has played bass with Lisa Loeb, Steve Hunt, Skip Hadden, Thalia Zadek, Adam Sultan, Peri Lyons, Joe Niski, Steve Weisberg, Ken Winoker, Herb Robertson, ROVA Saxophone Quartet, Rock Savage, and Andrew Essex, most of whom will deny it vehemently. He holds a Masters Degree from the New England Conservatory, where he studied composition with Lee Hyla and Joe Maneri. They’ll probably deny that also. Alexey Artemov is a percussionist and electronic musician. He is an ardent improviser and has worked with ensembles in the USA and abroad. Alexey’s most recent collaborations were recordings and performances with a butoh theater group in the Ukraine. Tim Mukherjee is a composer and performer based in New York City. His compositions employ both acoustic instruments and electronics. He also has conducted operas, orchestras and vocal and instrumental ensembles and has worked with Jeff Lohn, Karole Armitage and Boston’s Dinosaur Annex and Composers in Red Sneakers.

Parlor Walls

Parlor Walls frontwoman/guitarist Alyse Lamb spins and pounces and fires off shards of noise one second, then evilly lingering, noir-ish phrases the next. Drummer Chris Mulligan anchors the music with a mighty rumble and crash while playing organ, ambitiously, with his left hand. Alto saxophonist Kate Mohanty provides a calm yet similarly brooding presence with her resonant, minimalist lines and astringent, boxcutter tone. They call it trash jazz. – NY Music Daily

Calder Mansfield

Singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist Calder Mansfield is joined by guitarist Chogyi Lama, bassist Kendall Wind, and drummer Eli Propper. Ida Hakkila of WDST’s The Heavy Light Show says, “While her songs sound current and even cutting edge, Calder Mansfield’s powerhouse vocals hold up with with the best of Janis Joplin, Grace Slick and Joni Mitchell. I know that’s saying a lot, but it’s just true. If you have the chance to see her perform live, you can’t help but get goosebumps.”

Bearquilt

Bearquilt is a 4 piece indie rock band based out of the Catskill mountains. Their songs allude to the 1990’s, both in sound and material. Their heavily-effected guitar sounds give an ambient overtone, while their soft / innocent vocal parts lend comfort to the ear. The songwriting of Alex Storm (rhythm guitar / vocals) has been described as “unique & catchy”, and Victor Lissabet’s guitar shredding has been referenced to the likes of Steve Miller- with a classic edge. Combined, it sounds like you took Dinosaur Jr. and the Gallagher brothers; threw them in a blender with a rusty metal file, add Duane Allman and a few cute guitar licks, maybe some vintage drum machines- and you get Bearquilt.

Alana Amram & The Rough Gems

Singing, stories and songs are the first things I remember. I hit the road at 2 weeks old, touring around America with my musical family. I napped in a guitar case at the foot of the stage. Books about horses, a passion for trespassing, searching for lost caves and ginseng treasures in the upstate New York wilderness fed my curiosoty. I started to keep notebooks chronicling my adventures and tried to turn them into songs. I have opened, sang and played alongside an array of bands and musicians as varied as my musical taste. The short list includes: Pete Seeger, Nels Cline, Peter Rowan, Steve Earle, Abigail Washburn, Tommy Ramone, Judy Collins, The Church, Jimmy Dale Gilmore, Langhorne Slim, Danava, Nicole Atkins, Hurray For The Riff Raff, Nikki Lane, Alberta Cross, Anti-Flag, Psychic TV, ? & the Mysterians, Sky Saxon, Odetta, Boss Hog, Mac Demarco, Jenny O, The Chapin Sisters, Daddy Long Legs, Black Oak Arkansas, Cherrie Currie, John McCuen, Janis Ian, Israel Nash Gripka, Deertick, Steve Aoki and many many others. My music has been featured in ads for Stetson, the web series ”The Actress” and in several independent films. I am also a filmmaker, artist, curator and bass player.

Madárka

Madarka, or “Little Bird” in Hungarian is a group of local musicians who share a love of Eastern European Music. We play mostly traditional Hungarian, Jewish, and Roma (Gypsy) dance music and songs in a way that makes sense and is fun for us now.
