Denitia

Denitia is a singer-songwriter who exemplifies American cultural enlightenment.

Born and raised outside Houston, Denitia’s southern heritage forms a canvas for her evolving musical portrait. As a child, she performed in church choirs, and taught herself to play piano and guitar from her family’s trailer in the woods. She carried those experiences with her as she made her way around the country, moving to Nashville for college, and Brooklyn thereafter.

Now based in New York’s Hudson Valley, Denitia’s portfolio of work reveals melodic stories spanning states, cities, and times. In her latest release, she takes listeners on a drive through the lanes of love and longing over the course of American grandeur. Fusing elements of country, folk and rock, Denitia establishes a newfound American utopia, ongoing and indefinite, uplifted by wistful vocals and the chimes of a tambourine.

With her songs as mantras, Denitia aims to reimagine what it means to be home.

Dirt Surfers

This four piece set has been best-of-friends since grade school in the 70s & 80s – much of our time together then centered around the tape deck and what was playing in it while we otherwise rode our BMX bikes, motos and generally punked out. We mostly existed on the fringe of the social sphere by virtue of our shared interests, which included kick-ass punk and rock bands ranging from The Clash, Bad Brains, Ramones, Fugazi, and The Replacements to The Jam, Blonde, The Police, The Cure and The English Beat…(more/others?). Meanwhile, Red Zone started several bands on his own while the rest of us spun-off into other life shenanigans through our 20s and 30s – all while still meeting up to surf-the-dirt on occasion and share and enjoy new-found music.

Then, one day out on a mountain bike ride (shred ‘in hard of course!) we thought why don’t we meld our collective passions and create a band – shazam… Dirt Surfers! Since then, Kidd Skidd, Slick-E-Boom and Endo have managed to keep Red Zone intrigued in fits and starts – and now seven years later, we continue to be driven by the same energy that brought us together 30 years ago – living for the love of music, dirt surfing and generally pushing the comfort level on life to not only enrich ourselves, but hopefully those that we come in contact with along the way – or even better… along the trail! Here’s to all you Dirt-ers out there!

Chaz Kiss

Chaz Kiss and her noise-makers are three alternative rock musicians creating big waves in the Upstate New York DIY music community. Influences range from Fiona Apple to Jeff Buckley with hints of The Fray. Chaz’s expertise lies in her intricate lyricism and poignant production quality, as she writes, records, and produces the tracks herself. Many of her songs include slam-poetry breakdowns, emotional melodies, with driving piano force. Throughout the pandemic, the internet became a helpful tool in promoting her tracks. She started live-streaming her original songs every night for 3-6 hours depending. With steady consistency, she developed a dedicated online fanbase across the world with the help from streaming sites such as Twitch, Volume, and Spoon. The continued support from her audience makes Chaz Kiss’ fanbase feel like a tight-knit community of supportive friends.

Barely Lace

We Barely Lace took our name from a dream wherein a priestess resided in a realm existing between worlds, lending guidance and protection to mythic beings passing through. Formed from an extended partnership between Annie Roland and Carrie Chapman, Barely Lace offers a repertoire influenced by classical, world music, art rock and folk. We perform esoteric originals, traditional European ballads and contemporary covers. Haunting melodies entwine with harmony against chords and rhythm in a style we call ‘acoustic trance’.

Andrew Forbes

Brooklyn, 2012, a city of blended traditions and fresh faces, and no better place for such intermingled personalities as the world renowned Iona bar in Williamsburg. At this Scottish pub for all fancies, a traditional Scottish session was started, and it wasn’t long until Andrew Forbes, psychedelic piper from Nova Scotia, and Max Carmichael, multi-instrumentalist from New Jersey, met at the session for the weekly Monday night jam. Nearly every week, like going to church, they blended their virtuosic talents, exploring the frontiers of trad music in exciting and innovative ways. Ten years later, with several recordings and thousands of hours playing time in the balance, the two have rejoined to bring their intoxicating sound to the communities of the Hudson River Valley.
