In MODERN YESTERDAY’s, Kaki King continues to refine her now signature instrument-centered projection mapping performance, using audiovisual technical wizardry, carefully choreographed guitar and drum playing, as well as colorful visual curation, to send us on a journey –arriving at the emotional place we yearn to visit.
“Percussive, foreboding and futuristic, it’s a brilliant display of how King–who could put anyone to shame in a contest of pure technical acoustic skill if need be –is skilled enough to floor you with even the simplest figures.”–Jackson Maxwell, Guitar World

“for two decades —taps and slaps strings to make music as ornate as a healing crystal.”–The New York Times
“King’s evocative performance was a sumptuous feast for the senses, a dizzying display of sound and vision by a guitarist already renowned for her innovation.”–Boston Globe
“bare, powerful, and propulsive.”–KUTX Austin
“If there’s one thing you can predict about the iconoclastic avant-guitarist Kaki King, it’s that the only thing you expect her to do next is that she’ll do the unexpected, every time.”–Digital Trends
