Amanda Maria
Introduction to Belly Dance w/Amanda Maria
Come experience the joy of moving to the music of the world!
Belly Dance (or “raqs sharqi” in Arabic), is a joyful and expressive dance form with roots in the music and culture of the Middle East and North Africa. This low-impact dance helps strengthen one’s core, train balance, and create new mind-body connections. In this introductory class, students will focus on learning basic belly dance technique, movement vocabulary, and traditional musical context in a relaxed and inclusive class environment.
This class is designed for students brand new to belly dance, with progressions provided for those looking for an extra challenge.
Amanda has over a decade of experience studying various styles and formats of belly dance. Inspired by the richness of music and culture in the Middle East, North Africa, and Turkey, “American Cabaret” is one of her favorite styles to perform and teach.
She holds a Group Fitness Instructor certification from ACE, and enjoys helping people fall in love with activities that feed the body, mind, and soul. Her classes are a positive space to be oneself, find joy in movement, experience the music of the world, and support one another. She teaches weekly classes at Mountainview Studio in Woodstock, NY.

Adah Frank
Fit/Dance
This typically 1 hour class incorporates dance based movement (Haitian, Cuban, African, modern based), fueled by music and rhythms from around the world. We also incorporate more targeted strengthening exercises, yoga, and whatever feels right in the moment!
While my class’s structure remains the same, I can adapt classes for various populations – for example – seniors, as movement therapy, and for younger populations.
I have been teaching various forms of movement for over 30 years. I have studied and continue my own practice of ballet, modern, sacred and secular Haitian and Cuban and African dance, and yoga (instructor certification 2008). I currently run movement groups in an inpatient mental health setting, as well as teaching “seniors” (55 and up) locally and I present my class in health and wellness retreats (Breakup Bootcamp, Escape to Shape for e.g.).
